Internet in Grenada: what the ferry to Carriacou tells you about coverage
Grenada is a three-island country, and the gap between them is where the network becomes interesting. Flow and Digicel both serve the main island well from coastal and ridge sites, so St George's and the south are straightforward. Carriacou and Petite Martinique sit under the same country code and the same plan, but they are small, separately served, and reached by a ferry crossing of roughly two hours. Somewhere in the middle of that crossing you lose both ends at once, which is a useful thing to know before you rely on booking something from the boat.
- ●On the main island the reliable belt runs from St George's through Grand Anse to the airport and the southern hotels, with no real gaps. Belmont Estate and the northeast hold a workable signal. Grand Etang in the centre and Annandale Falls are patchy by terrain rather than by neglect, since the volcanic ridge shadows the valleys from both sides. Levera National Park at the northern tip is at the edge of the served area.
- ●On the outer islands, plan for capacity rather than absence. Hillsborough on Carriacou is fine. Petite Martinique, with a few hundred residents, has the thinnest network in the country, and a single beach bar's wifi can carry more of the island's traffic than you might expect. Download charts, ferry times and offline maps before you go out.
- ●The Atlantic hurricane season runs June to November and can disrupt both the networks and the inter-island links at short notice. Keeping an offline copy of tickets and bookings means you are not competing for the network at the exact moment everybody else needs it.

Frequently asked questions
Does an eSIM work in Grenada?
Yes. Your eSIM attaches to Flow or Digicel depending on your provider's agreements, with nothing to configure. Just confirm Grenada appears on the country list.
Does the same plan cover Carriacou?
Yes, all three islands share the GD country code. Coverage there is lighter than on the main island, with fewer sites, but the plan is identical.
Will I have signal on the ferry?
Not throughout. The crossing to Hillsborough passes through a stretch where neither island holds you. Send what you need to send before boarding.
Is a Caribbean bundle enough?
Often, but not always. Regional lists differ between providers, so search for Grenada by name rather than trusting the region label.
How much data for a week?
5 GB comfortably covers maps, messaging, bookings and photos. Go to 10 GB if you share a lot of video or plan to work from the island.
