Russia's mobile network is dense in cities: the major carriers (MTS, MegaFon, Beeline, Tele2) offer good 4G/LTE in Moscow, St Petersburg and regional centers, with 5G still marginal. Two realities weigh on travelers: since 2022, Visa and Mastercard issued abroad no longer work in Russia, and internet access is state-filtered.
