Cambodia has roughly 70 % internet penetration and over 90 % 4G mobile coverage (source: ITU DataHub, 2024). 5G is rolling out in Phnom Penh by Smart Axiata. Smart, Cellcard and Metfone (a Viettel subsidiary) share the market.
- ●4G coverage in all major cities (Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Battambang, Sihanoukville, Kampot) and along main highways. Decent on the Angkor site (Smart has the best footprint around the temples). Patchier in the Cardamoms, Mondulkiri (Sen Monorom OK, jungle weak) and some islands (Koh Rong, Koh Rong Sanloem : resort Wi-Fi more than mobile).
- ●Average mobile speed ~30–50 Mbps download per Ookla (Q1 2025).
- ●No Western services blocked : Google, WhatsApp, Instagram, X, YouTube, Netflix work normally. Telegram and WhatsApp are dominant for hotel / tuk-tuk contacts.
