Internet in Seychelles: everything you need to know
Seychelles is covered by two carriers, Airtel Seychelles and Cable & Wireless (C&W), whose 4G serves the inhabited islands, starting with Mahé, Praslin and La Digue. Internet penetration exceeds 80% (source: ITU DataHub, 2024). Classic roaming in the archipelago is among the most expensive in the Indian Ocean: the eSIM is an economic no-brainer here.
- ●Good 4G in Victoria (Mahé), on the tourist beaches (Beau Vallon, Anse Lazio, Anse Source d'Argent) and around the Praslin and La Digue harbours. On the inner islands and during boat transfers, signal carries a few kilometres then drops in open sea.

Seychelles does not split into a dry season and a wet one; it alternates between two trade winds. The north-westerly brings rain and choppier water, the south-easterly dries the air but pushes seaweed onto some beaches. The months between the two escape both.
April, May, October, November
The changeover months between trade winds, and comfortably the best. Wind drops, the sea flattens and underwater visibility peaks. This is the window for diving and for island-hopping by ferry.
March, June, September
Solid shoulder months. June and September already belong to the south-easterly, so windier but pleasantly dry; March still carries humidity from the season before.
December and January
Peak season on the back of the holidays. Accommodation and flights hit their highest prices while the weather is the least settled of the year. Book early or shift the dates.
The north-westerly
From December to March, showers are frequent and sometimes heavy, without lasting all day. The sea builds on north-west-facing coasts, which moves swimming to the other side of the island rather than cancelling it.
Iconic sites and coverage
Anse Source d Argent
Polished granite boulders set on very pale sand, behind a reef that keeps the water shallow and still. Reached through the L'Union estate on La Digue, usually by bicycle, with partial signal.
Vallee de Mai
A forest of coco de mer palms on Praslin, bearing a nut that grows nowhere else. The trails are short but fully canopied, and the network goes quiet underneath.
Anse Lazio
Praslin's big northern beach, backed by takamaka trees, with proper swimming depth and rock headlands at both ends. A couple of restaurants on site and decent coverage.
Morne Seychellois National Park
The forested mountain spine of Mahé, with steep trails that open onto the whole west coast. Signal disappears under the cover, so download the route first.
Beau Vallon
Mahé's busiest bay, a long sand beach with shops, an evening market and dive operators. For a traveller, the best-connected spot in the archipelago.
Curieuse Island
A small island off Praslin where giant tortoises roam free, visited on a day boat. Partial coverage and tight return times.
Aldabra Atoll
One of the most isolated atolls on the planet, reachable only by permitted expedition vessel, with a tortoise population that has no equivalent. No network and no improvised stops.
Victoria Market
The Sir Selwyn-Clarke market in the middle of the capital, for the morning catch, spices and a first taste of Creole. In town, so fully covered.
